2007 U.I.K.L Game Rules


  • KICKBALL IS PLAYED ONLY WITH THE RED THIRTEEN (13) INCH PLAYGROUND BALL.
  • BOTH TEAMS MUST USE THE SAME BALL FROM START TO FINISH.
  • EACH GAME WILL HAVE TWO (2) OFFICIALS, AND A SCORE/TIMEKEEPER THE HEAD OFFICIAL IS AT HOME PLATE. THE SECOND OFFICIAL WILL BE COVERING IN-FIELD PLAY.   
  • THE DESIGNATED HEAD OFFICIAL HAS THE FINAL CALL.  HE OR SHE CAN OVERTURN ANY CALL WITH PROPER REASON.
  • EACH GAME WILL HAVE FORTY-FIVE (45) MINUTES PLAYING TIME OR SIX (6) INNINGS; WHICHEVER COMES FIRST.  ALL PLAYERS SHOULD BE ON THE FIELD AT THE STARTING TIME OF THEIR GAME.
  • TEAMS SHOULD REPORT TO THE SCOREKEEPER AT LEAST TEN (10) MINUTES PRIOR TO THE START OF THEIR GAME TO FILL-OUT THE SCORE SHEET.   
  • THERE ARE NO GAME GRACE PERIODS.  FAILURE TO SUBMIT TEAM LINE-UP OR KICKING ROTATION WILL RESULT IN A FORFEIT.  IF A KICKER KICKS OUT OF ORDER, IT IS AN AUTOMATIC OUT.  NO GHOST RUNNERS. . . NO EXCEPTIONS!!!  HEAD UMPIRE MUST BE AWARE OF THE SUB/ROTATIONS OF TEAM PLAYERS AT ALL TIMES. 
  • A COIN TOSS (HEADS OR TAILS) DECIDES WHO WILL KICK FIRST.
  • STARTING THIS YEAR EACH WIN IS 1 POINT, IF THERE IS A TIE GAME EACH TEAM GETS A 1/2 POINT. IF YOU LOSE YOU GET ZERO POINTS.
  • THERE WILL BE NO MORE SATURDAY TIE-BREAKER GAMES.
  • TEAMS CONSIST OF TWENTY-FOUR (24) OR FEWER PLAYERS.  A MAXIMUM OF TEN (10) PLAYERS, CONSISTING OF FIVE (5) FEMALES AND FIVE (5) MALES, ARE REQUIRED ON THE FIELD DURING THE GAME.  EQUAL GENDER AT ALL TIMES
  • FOUR (4) BALLS PITCHED (INTENTIONALLY AND/OR UNINTENTIONALLY) TO A MALE KICKER WILL RESULT IN AN ADVANCEMENT  OF THE MALE KICKER TO FIRST (1ST) BASE AND THE FEMALE ON FIRST BASE WILL ADVANCE TO SECOND BASE.
  • SLIDING AND/OR DIVING TO GET ON BASE IS AN AUTOMATIC OUT!!        
    • THIS ACTION COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURIES
  • IF THE KICKER TOUCHES THE BALL WHILE UP TO KICK, IT IS AN AUTOMATIC OUT!!
  • FOUR (4) FOULS AND/OR THREE (3) STRIKES ARE CONSIDERED OUTS.
  • HITTING A PLAYER ON THE HEAD WITH THE BALL IS NOT ALLOWED:
    • IF A PERSON IS HIT WITH THE BALL ON THE HEAD, IT IS AN TWO (2) BASE ADVANCMENT; AND
    • IF A PERSON DUCKS AND GETS HIT ON THE HEAD BY THE BALL, THERE WILL BE NO ADVANCEMENT.
  • THE BALL MUST BE ROLLED THIRTEEN (13) INCHES OR LOWER FOR TO BE CONSIDERED A FAIR ROLL.  NO BOUNCING BALLS.  AS LONG AS THE BALL ROLLS OVER THE STRIKE ZONE, IT WILL BE CONSIDERED A FAIR ROLL AND CALLED ACCORDINGLY.
    • EXAMPLE:  FAST ROLLS, SLOW ROLLS, HOOKS, SPINS, etc, ARE ALL FAIR ROLLS. 
  • PITCHER MUST BE ON THE (RUBBER) MOUND WITH THE BALL TO STOP ALL GAME PLAYS
    • EXAMPLE:  IF A PLAY IS IN MOTION AND A RUNNER ADVANCES TO ANOTHER BASE AFTER A PLAY HAS BEEN MADE, THAT PLAYER CAN CONTINUE TO ADVANCE BASES UNTIL THE PITCHER RETURNS TO THE (RUBBER) MOUND, WITH THE BALL, TO STOP THE PLAY.
  • DISORDERLY CONDUCT IS NOT ALLOWED.  UMPIRES HAVE THE RIGHT TO WARN AND/OR EJECT PLAYERS FROM THE GAME.  REPEAT OFFENDERS, THOSE PLAYERS WHO CONTINUE TO DISOBEY THE RULES AFTER THREE (3) WARNINGS, WILL BE PUT OUT OF THE LEAGUE!! (This includes excessive profanity.)
  • BALLS OUT OF PLAY ARE DEAD BALLS.  RUNNERS CANNOT ADVANCE ON A FOUL BALL.
  • KICKING LEG MUST EXTEND IN A FORWARD MOTION TO BE CONSIDERED A KICK.   (BUNT) 
  • IF A PLAYER GETS HURT AND THE TEAM HAS NO REPLACEMENT, THE INJURED PLAYER’S SPOT WILL BE RULED AS AN OUT WHEN IT IS THEIR TURN TO KICK AGAIN.
  • PLAYER RUNNING OUTSIDE OF THE BASELINE IS AN AUTOMATIC OUT.
  • ALL PLAYERS MUST STAY IN THE DUGOUT UNLESS THEY ARE THE NEXT-UP TO KICK AND ARE POSITIONED IN THE KICKER’S BOX.

DEFENSE:

  • PITCHES MUST BE UNDERHAND AND YOUR FOOT MUST TOUCH THE RUBBER PITCHER'S MOUND IN THE BOX.
  • BACK CATCHER NO RUNNING UP TOWARDS THE KICKER BEFORE THE BALL IS KICKED.  ALLOWED TO ONLY STAND BEHIND THE KICKER WITH ONE FOOT ON EITHER SIDE OF THE BOX. YOU CAN NOT MOVE FORWARD UNTIL THE BALL IS KICKED. (STRIKE ZONE).  
  • EVERYONE ON DEFENSE SHOULD BE BEHIND THE WHITE MARKED-LINE BETWEEN 1ST and 3rd BASE WHEN THE BALL IS PITCHED.  FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN A BALL AND, IF ELIGIBLE, THE BASE RUNNER ADVANCES ONE (1) BASE.
  • YOU ARE OUT IF YOU HAVE OVERRUN THE BASE AND ARE TAGGED WITH THE BALL.
    • FIRST (1ST) BASE IS THE ONLY BASE YOU CAN OVERRUN.   OVERRUNNING MUST CONTINUE STRAIGHT OR VEER TO THE RIGHT FOR YOU TO BE CONSIDERED SAFE. 
    • IF YOU OVERRUN FIRST (1ST) BASE AND CONTINUE RUNNING IN THE DIRECTION OF SECOND (2ND) BASE, YOU CAN BE TAGGED WITH THE BALL AND CALLED OUT.     

         OFFENSE:

  • RUNNING OVER HOME PLATE TO KICK THE BALL WILL BE CONSIDERED AN OUT.  THE BALL MUST ROLL OVER THE STRIKE ZONE BEFORE IT IS KICKED.
  • KICKER MUST HAVE ONE FOOT IN THE KICKER BOX BEFORE KICKING THE BALL.
  • STEALING BASES IS NOT ALLOWED.  RUNNERS CANNOT LEAVE THE BASE UNTIL THE BALL IS KICKED (RULING CAN BE CALLED BY THE UMPIRE).
  • IF YOU STEP OFF THE BASE YOU MUST TAG UP BEFORE YOU CAN ADVANCE TO THE NEXT BASE.  FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN AN OUT.
